How it started
Smart ideas create innovations – and that's what happened with us. It all began in a 40m² student apartment: rugs as far as the eye could see – stacked up in the hallway, leaning against the walls in the living room, and the rest stored in the small kitchen. When Monika and Ali, our founders and CEOs, started selling Persian rugs on an online marketplace as students, they quickly recognized the unique potential of the niche in the market they had stumbled upon: So why not simply set up their own e-commerce shop and sell rugs professionally online?

With enthusiasm, expertise, and great dedication, Monika and Ali immersed themselves in the world of e-commerce and launched the online carpet shop benuta in 2008. In doing so, they not only revolutionized the world of the previously conventional, brick-and-mortar carpet trade. Their unique vision paved the way for an innovative and contemporary shopping experience, transforming the carpet into a lifestyle product thanks to modern and unique designs.

benuta now reaches 1.5 million customers daily in 12 countries. Originally founded with Persian rugs, our product range now encompasses more than
20,000 items. This also includes an increasing number of home accessories and children's rugs. We attach great importance to offering our customers a
diverse selection of designs, sizes, materials, styles, and manufacturing techniques. Since 99% of our product range consists of our own brands, our
products are particularly exclusive and unique.

At our modern headquarters in Bonn, we work together as a team of over 70 employees from the Creative, Tech, and Operations departments. With passion and commitment, we strive to continuously develop benuta so that everyone can find their favorite product.
